i! My name is Tara, and I’m a self-taught cake designer that owns Not Just Cakes, a small boutique bakery located at 340 Keltic drive in Sydney, Nova Scotia. I began baking as a child and continued learning and perfecting my skills as she grew up from my aunt, who made custom wedding cakes.
Prior to designing cakes, I worked full time and made cakes and other treats for family and friends on the side. I had no idea when I was spending my day off baking for others that it would grow into something bigger. There came a point where I knew then I had a huge decision to make. The choice became easy because baking was always my first love.
When I had outgrown my own kitchen I knew I had to find the perfect location. Good parking and surrounding community were huge factors to consider. When the location on Keltic Drive came up, I knew I was in good company with amazing business neighbours, Breton Brewing, Nurtured Salon & Spa, and Hind Hard Studios to name a few. I felt like I was welcomed with open arms.
